How to Wash My Car Tips from Overland Carwash

At Overland Carwash we value our customers business but also understand that sometimes you simply have to wash your car yourself. If you find yourself in such a situation but with limited knowledge on how to was your car, here is How to Wash My Car Tips from Overland Carwash:

  • Whether your car is basically brand new or a few years old, you'll need a proper choice of soap to wash it. This is a step many people with new cars don't pay attention to, thinking it's not necessary for a brand new car. The soap is definitely necessary to rid the surface of contaminants that could damage and scratch the surface but also to dissolve any products used by the dealership.
  • When washing your car with a proper soap, make sure to use an appropriate microfiber cloth or preferably microfiber wash mitt as well as a large bucket of water to rinse and clean the microfiber wash mitt in-between. The microfiber wash mitt will trap contaminants and avoid scratching the surface in the process while you can rinse it in the bucket periodically.
  • Finally, you'll have to dry the car. The best way to achieve this is using a large microfiber towel that many different brands offer. The proper way to dry the vehicle is to lay out and spread the towel on the surface of car and then drag the towel by holding two of the corners. The trick here is not put weight on the towel and to avoid pushing it on the car and doing a circular motion as you would expect during waxing for instance.

And that's it. By following these simple steps you can wash your own car when you don't have the opportunity to drop by Overland Carwash. Stay tuned for our next series on how to treat the cars surface after a wash.

In fact we like to see ourselves as the The Earth Friendly Carwash due to our business practices and the choices we've made since our foundation. Overland Carwash is 85% green and eco-friendly through the use of recycling and green products.
All cars are provided with the best quality and value in name brand car services using companies such as Meguiar's ™ and Blue Coral ™.
